Hey, muhfukkrs! So, it's been a long ass time since I've updated, so I figure I better get SOMETHING up here. I'm still in a music updating hiatus due to shit being really busy and not a lot of sponsorship coming in. However, there have been a LOT of new releases in 2011 that I'm not going to be able to resist for very much longer. So, I'm thinking there's gonna be a November 2011 overhaul, which would include adding new bands and new records from Switch mainstays.

Regarding requests: The Killswitch Stream is NOT request based station. Having a request based station requires a lot of tweaking in order to follow FCC rules (to avoid heavy fines and possible shut down), of which I have ZERO time. However, if you REALLLLLY want to hear a song (eventually), you're more than welcome to send me a high quality MP3 to the.killswitch.stream@gmail.com and I'll get it into rotation if it's not a corrupt track. Even better, if you want 5 - 10 songs put into the rotation that you really feel would work, send a $10 GC to the same email address and I'll get your shit in pronto!

Updating Hiatus

Good news and bad! Good news: Didn't get taken in the Rapture, so The Killswitch Stream will stay up and running indefinitely!! HAILZ! However, bad news: because of a lack of financial/label support for The Switch I'm going on a "new song/band updating" hiatus. The cost, at this point, has outweighed the benefit for me to continue to pour money into keeping this station as up-to-date as it has been in the past. This DOESN'T mean that The Killswitch Stream is going down. That won't ever happen. But, it's going to be awhile before anything new gets added to the playlist.

My extreme LAZY ASS has finally gotten up and found some new shit to get on this station. And when I say "some" new shit, I mean 30 new bands and a few new tracks from some mainstays. By no means am I finished, but lack of funding for this bitch is making uploads fewer and far between. Sorry...again, I love Amazon.com/MP3 GCs sent to thekillswitchstream@gmail.com. As little as $5 will get you six new songs from 2 - 3 new bands. Permanently!

Also going to be trying to get some new bumpers and graphics for The Switch. Mix it up a bit. If you do either and would be willing to donate your skillz to the cause, lemme know.

Updates: Researching and Contemplating...

I know I've been a douche when it comes to updating; sorry about that. The holidays are getting close to being over for me at work, so I'm starting to get that urge to cut open the Switch to see how she's feeling. So, a couple of things:

1) I'm in the process of researching all of the new bands that have put out brutal new shit in the past six months; when I'm done with that I will start the painstaking process of finding all the NEW releases from all the bands already on The Switch that have one (that reminds me, Amazon.com/MP3 gift certificates go here: thekillswitchstream@gmail.com). That should take me a few months as I know there's a lot of good new shit out there. Just gotta sift through it.

2) In the past The Switch has been equal parts Death/Metal and Hardcore/Metalcore. But, over time it's taken on a more Death/Grind/Thrash heavy lean...which is fine by me. If that's the way The Switch wants it, that's what she gets. BUT, I miss me some hardcore. So, over the next few months I'm going to scope out what would be needed to create a new station that would be purely Hardcore in all it's various forms. Now, I'm not really into that scene, I just dig the music, so it's gonna take a LOT of time to figure something that isn't just a pathetic attempt to get hard(er). Look for a 2012 release of that fucker if it happens.

3) Did I mention I love money: amazon.com/MP3 gift certificates are really easy to send, especially when sent to thekillswitchstream@gmail.com. $6 gets you two or three bands that weren't on here before. Think about that...you know you can't live without The Switch! Mwuahahahahah!

Hey kids! So, Live365 pulls the album cover art for all my tracks directly from Amazon.com, which normally is pretty cool and up to date. However, Amazon.com recently switched a lot of their image servers around, so a LOT of my pictures are broken. I don't have time to look through all 4 MILLION tracks that we serve up (that's a lie...2 million, tops), so...if any of you ever happening to be looking at the info for a song you dig and you see that there's no picture or worse...it's something COMPLETELY wrong or broken, please send me a shout out via the Live365 Station page. Wanted to post a quick update. I haven't messed with The Switch much lately (or commented about it) because it had reached a place where I didn't really need to fuck with it much for it to be EXTREMELY heavy. Add in lots of working and playing music of my own and other shit, I haven't had much reason to be vocal. But, never fear, I ALWAYS have The Switch on and in my mind.

I will say that after the end of the holidays I am going to be doing another overhaul. This includes getting ALL the new releases from the MANY, MANY artists that The Switch currently supports up and streaming and I'm thinking about producing a bunch of new bumpers/sweepers for the new year as well.

The unthinkable has happened. After having the SAME layout since...well, since Al Gore invented the internet, Live365 has spit in the face of all broadcasters and changed...THEIR LAYOUT! Not only does this new layout LOOK and FUNCTION better, it streamlines all the good things that L365 ever did and gets rid of all the bad. They've (God Forbid) FINALLY caught up with at LEAST the year 2003, 2004 and...and...OH YOU JUST HAVE TO GO SEE!

Can you sense my sarcasm? Live365.com HAS gone through a facelift and it's kind of awesome. However, lot of other broadcasters are taking it personally that L365 is actually trying to run a business without talking to every single one of them and asking their permission to do any damn thing. ESPECIALLY something that makes the website compliant with the REST of the world and is designed to keep people interested, not just provide a place for BCs to do whatever the hell they want to. They're under this impression that since they pay L365 anywhere from $10 to $50 a month that their ENTIRE FUCKING DESIGN and MARKETING team is at their disposal. It really shows how much they DON'T know about what it is that L365 is doing. Their BC fees don't pay SHIT into what L has accomplished and CONTINUES to accomplish. They really need to fuck off for at LEAST another 24 hours, and then they can just stay fucked off because L365 rules.

The rollout happened less than 24 hours ago and half of them (well, the ones that are vocal) are ready to jump ship because IT'S SUCH A FUCKING TRAGEDY. Fuck em...GO! Let's see if you can do what you do at Yahoo! or Shoutcast or whereever the fuck ever you're going to go. I think it looks good, and The Switch must be doing something right cause I 1) didn't have to mess with hardly anything and 2) I haven't lost a SINGLE listener. Hmm...maybe people should just shut the fuck up and take the gift they've been given. Anywho...I hate people. People should shut up.

Speaking of shutting up: yes, yes...I haven't updated SHIT in ages. I'm busy. Just know that I've added a shit ton of new bands of late, I just don't get paid to tell you about it, so you'll have to listen and BE SURPRISED! WOOOOO! OH HEY...we broke the 11000+ mark. Because FUCK YEAH! We're a cum shot away from being #4 in the Metal Genre, which is AWESOME because...well because Live365 is really trying to fuck all the broadcasters unless you're in the Top Five and you rule. Like we do. HA! Nah, would be really cool to FINALLY catch one of the "hard rock" stations that have been at the top for ages. Not to mention get closer to that chode sucking, net-admin cheating, motherfucker Opera Metal asshole that won't shut up either. I must throw down my cloak of humility for a moment to inform my growing fanbase of some very cool things: 1) The Killswitch Stream hit a "new high" for Total Listening Hours. Since it's inception in 2003, we've never broken 9000. We did that a few days ago, and today we stand at 9200+ TLH. This makes my dick extremely hard. 2) As of right now, The Killswitch Stream is the highest rated and most listened to Extreme Metal Music Stream on Live365. I haven't had the time to research how big we are on the internet as a whole, but my goal is to have The Switch be THE place to get your ass kicked for Extreme Metal on the 'net. The Switch is now on iTunes Radio!

Some exciting news: Part of the Uber-upgrade for The Switch was the opportunity to get listed on third party listening stations...one of which is iTunes Radio! Well, it happened today, and it sounds FUCKING awesome. If you're an avid iTunes user, you can just pull up the iTunes program...the menue where you usually organize the music and podcasts you have there is a listing that says "Radio". Click on that and it'll give you a list of genres. We're under the Hard Rock / Metal category, about half way down the page (in name and sorted by 128k).

Good times! Hopefully this will help us get the exposure we need to spread the FILTH even further!

New Fear Factory added in the past week. God damn it's good to have Douchebag Dino back on guitar. Nothing against the Arkaea crew, but it just wasn't the same. And holy FUCK Gene Hoglan on the drums is like Demanufacture all over again. I...I've pee'd my pants multiple times. I just don't bother changing them anymore, it's that good. As of last night The Switch is completely converted to 128k. All 1008 TRACKS! HAILZ! We also got our advertising campaign rolling as well at www.streamfinder.com. Last time we listed with them we saw quite a big jump, and when we cancelled with them we noticed a BIG loss. So, logic dictates...Streamfinder is actually a good place to find a lot of stations, from all different platforms.

So, The Switch has a makeover. More exposed, BETTER sounding...I dare say we sound better than 99.9% of all the Extreme Metal Stations we can find, and that's good fuckin' times! And now, you don't have to log in to listen, just click on Play, it'll pop the window open and start right up. WE LOVE that! Now, we have the task of going through all the tracks to make sure that all the album covers are correct and the labels are all represented...but you needn't worry bout that. You just need to start fucking LISTENING!

A new era...

Well, it's official. The Killswitch Stream is now recognized as a professional webcast. I'm not sure if I should be really excited or REALLY AFRAID! heh heh. Either way, the next year is going to be interesting. Starting tonight I'm going to be doing a few things:

1) re-uploading all the tracks to 128k. That's right, you heard me. It's important that not only are we streaming shit you've never heard before, but that it sounds as BADASS as it can. The total process may take a week or so because we have SO MUCH music, but it'll be worth it. And I'm going to be uploading it in chunks so there shouldn't be too much downtime. However, if you were listening right now, or try to hit it and it tells you were not there, no worries...we will be back VERY SOON!

2) planning the advert attack. I'm going to be putting together an ad campaign to get the Switch exposed to the Metal World in a way it hasn't before. This will happen well after I've made sure The Switch is in perfect condition (i.e. all tracks uploaded; all info entered/corrected; websites all tight). I'll definitely keep you posted!

Right now they just redirect back to this fine blog, but in the very near future I'm going to have a "Stream Portal" for the station as I won't be required to have folks log in (as a Pro station). This will also allow me to get the keyword action going so I can get FOUND on the fucking 'net as well. Right now my Facebook and Myspace pages are getting some hits, but it's just one more click to get to a Play Button. Would be nice to have 1-Click and BAAM...you're ready to Shreddy, Freddy! It seems that the Metal Gods are truly tired of hearing me bitch and whine about the massive conspiracy that has been dead set on keeping The Switch down (heh heh hehheh ehhehe), because one of those opportunities that I spoke of and then cursed...well, it became open to me and I accepted and my acceptance was accepted and BAAM! By the end of this month, The Switch will be part of a Small Webcaster group. We will be paying SoundExchange directly and reporting all of our earnings/losses and...well, hopefully be listed all over the damn place, which could possible double or triple our TLH, giving us more exposure and starting that EMetal Ball Rolling! I have some work to do making sure all my tracks are labeled correctly (which most of them are), so enough talk. I'll post again when I know more and/or it's all done and we're screaming through the Universe.

2010: The Year of the Switch?

So, came across some interesting opportunities for expanding the listener base for the Switch. Live365 is offering a new package that gives a lot of benefits to stations that Personal broadcasting packages don't, but that doesn't cost NEARLY as much as the PRO packages offered. Unfortunately, this is by invite only, and The Switch doesn't quite qualify. However, there are some groups of broadcasters that are banding together to lower costs and such. So...I'm looking into whether or not one of these groups would be willing to give EVIL a slot. I'll keep you posted.

Well shit on me...there's just so MUCH God Damn new Metal out there that I've gone and maxed out my allotted space for MP3s on The Switch. And I'm NOT spending anymore money per month on this fucker until SOMEONE starts paying me. This means...yes...I'm gonna have to start making the tough decisions again regarding who stays and who goes. So far, it's been my thought that if the band is still cranking out records and touring then they can stick around (aside from the Classic bands, they usually get play, regardless). Genre Happenings...

After a two week pity party I took another look at the stats. The number of people hitting the station page are significantly lower when my primary genre is set as Extreme Metal as opposed to it being Metal. My TLH has dropped a bit, but not by leaps and bounds, so, I really think that the right decision for the station is to stay at 9th, 10th in Metal as it truly brings more people to the page and these folk do listen for a time. The point is to spread the word, and that's not happening with a sub-genre being the "primary". I've even noticed that L365 is giving the option to "hide" the subgenres when browsing, so it's another indication that the Primaries are where it's at.

So...yet again, I switch. Prolly for the last time, because I'm a little tired of looking at those pages. Save for a select few (me included of course), the stations that represent the various metal categories are pretty pathetic in my opinion, so it's time to start looking at L365 as a hosting site, and not any place for true information gathering or a place to take the temperature of any genre and it's fan base. Sometime next year I'm thinking of stepping up the advertising and possibly upgrading my package so I can create a web portal that has my station and I can circumvent sending people to Live365 or using the widget.

So, my little "Metal Genre" category experiment is over. The labels still think I'm not really worth their time. I topped out at 4100 TLH, but have since sunk to the mid 3000s. At this point, in order to compete I'd have to start dumping serious cash into advertising and other evil plots, and I'm just not willing to do that. The "Metal" genre at Live365.com is a fucking joke, and the top spot in Extreme Metal is a fucking cheater, so...fuck it. I'm switching back over to the Extreme Metal category and I'm calling it a day. I'll continue the search for cool music, and we're staying up...no doubt about it. I just don't have enough time and energy to do what needs to be done to get to the top. Fuckers can find me if they want their metal fix.

5000 Presets Strong!

We hit a milestone today. Over the past six years there have been over 5000 people that have visited The Switch mainpage, listened to what we were doing, and decided "fuck yeah, I'm bookmarking this motherfucker because...well fuck yeah!" and set a preset for us. 259 of those fuckers proclaimed us their favorite station of all time. That's BALLZ!

Now, those 5000 people aren't listening on a daily basis, or I'd be writing this from my XM Radio studio, but it's a trippy bitching feeling to know that a small stadium of people have been affected by what we do.

Some cool news: Live365 decided to upgrade the amount of space my particular broadcasting package gets, so I don't have to sit here and decide which bands to axe to make room for a little while. That's a good thing, means MORE metal by MORE bands. That's my goal...to expose. I hate having to delete, because it's usually the unsigned bands that I end up getting rid of because the sound quality just finally gets on my nerves or they've gone defunct.

I have been a little slow on the adding of new bands and new releases from mainstays. Mainly because I've been really busy and very broke, but that's only temporary. I have added some important new shit for October and beginning November:

So, a new thing has happened on The Switch that may be a very good sign of things to come. I've come to the conclusion that The Killswitch Stream is a guilty pleasure by Metal Heads across the world that have donned the suit and tie (or whatever costume applies) and they keep themselves real during their drab workdays by listening to the Blistering, Brutal, Mind Altering Noise that's coming out of our happy little internet stream station. This is mostly because my spikes happen during the U.S. "work hours" and usually tank after 5pm...and the weekends are usually barren and empty with only me listening to my brilliant track picking and arranging skillz (heh heh).

Well, today I was very surprised to log on to my account to assess the weekend damage and find that there was close to 20 people listening to the motherfucking Switch. This is such an unusual thing that I thought that it was Friday or Monday and I had WAY overslept...and it was a holiday...or Iran launched their missles...or something...because this couldn't be a fucking Saturday with this high of a turnout. I checked all the usual spots to see if I was "featured" or if there was some forum somewhere that claimed me to be the new Saturday Satan Salavation...nope. Nothing. Which means my peoples are so hooked by The Switch...they're fucking around with us on Saturday. Sah. Weet.

This will very much help my overall weekly TLH if this keeps up. OH, I did move to the number 8 spot on the Metal Genre (can't believe I forgot THAT tidbit), so...considering this is all being done by just running my playlists and no other myspace whoring, facebook begging horseshit...this could be the rise to power we've been (I've been) waiting for.

I've noticed a bit of a jump in TLH over the past two weeks. I haven't really done much, but the move to Metal as the primary Genre is definitely bringing more folks in. Had a Peak Listener of 28 (at one time) the other day, which is a new record since The Switch turned back on last year. It only happened once, and I'm not exactly sure WHY it happened. There were no special promos going on, I wasn't featured in anything on the net or Live365 specifically, so it was a fluke. Or, maybe a sign of things to come (I hope). Something else I've noticed is that other stations that play anything close to my kind of metal are losing a lot of listening hours. Typically we kind of all hover around the same amount, but for some reason they've all lost between 500 - 1000 TLH, and I've gone up. Is this because I'm taking their listeners? Probably not. It's really hard to determine listerner ship without a direct contact to who is listening. I've thought about setting up a forum, but the last time I did that (about 3 years ago) it turned into a flaming ground for asshole metal heads and just random people swinging by to tell me that metal sucked, which would result in me locking multiple threads from the resulting Satanic threat-fest. Good times. I've been tracking the hits to my blog and station page and I'm getting anywhere from 5-15 new people a day looking at my site. I'm getting anywhere from 3-12 "Favorite Station" adds a day, but the problem is, the TLH isn't reflecting that any of these folks are staying. If 1% of the people adding me per month stayed and listened for 10 hours a month, I'd be the number one Metal station...anywhere. But, that's not happening. So...again, it's really hard to track listenership...except for the TLH. Which is rising. Woot. We're at the tail end of the slow season, so I'm hoping for a spike. Once again, the only person who is seemingly unaffected by anything is the #1 Extreme metal station, my only real competition. I've been watching TLHs for years now, and it's amazing how him, and another station remain at almost the EXACT same TLH, every month, regardless of season, site issue or whatever. Cheating motherfuckers. That's fine...I will win in the end. And it IS all about winning. heh heh...

In Search Of...

Not really Metal related...well, kind of...but, I'm sort of in the process of joining the ranks of all the would-be Ghostbusters by starting some "classes" on Paranormal Investigating. I personally think all the "paravision" shows that are out there right now (i.e. Ghost Hunters, Paranormal State, Ghost Adventures) are kind of ruining what was kind of legitimate field of scientific exploration. So, my Pagan ass is going to learn how to be a Paranormal Investigator so I can tell all the "believers" that they're full of shit and that need to just shut the fuck up. And...maybe through all of it, I'll actually get some real "proof"...and then I'll apologize.

Anyway...the point of this was to promote my new favorite internet based radio show: Strange Freqencies Radio. It's run by the guys from Phase 3 Paranormal, a more scientific oriented Investigation team (as opposed to a bunch of Believers running around looking for Orbs). Phase Two

Without getting my hopes up TOO much, I've entered phase two of my emailing campaign. Unique Leader was actually a lot easier to work with than I thought, God Bless Em (or whatever). So, I've written the same basic email to The End Records (who've I've worked with before), Prosthetic Records, Metal Blade Records, Century Media, Roadrunner, Earache and Relapse Records. Like I said, I'm not expecting much, especially from the last four, 'cause they're the Big Boys of the Extreme Metal scene and have a lot to deal with...but, we'll see. Maybe I can get the labels to see the POWER OF THE SWITCH! Time "served" was a big factor in my being turned down last time, so we'll see if longevity gets us the Gold!

Genre Switch Findings and thoughts...

It's been about a week and a half since I switched from the Extreme Metal genre to the straight "Metal" category. I moved from the 12th spot to the 10th spot. Technically I was always the "10th" spot, but the other stations that like to think that their music deserves a Metal as their secondary or third genre got jumped in front of me. These are the alternative and radio rock stations that have a LOT of TLH already. The way Live365s rating system works is TLH rules over all, within reason. I've never really figured out where the breaking points are, but I don't really care either.
The backend stats show that in a weeks period of time, I got 13 times the amount of hits on my station page in the Metal category than I did with Extreme Metal. I still received hits in the EMetal cat (at which I'm in 7th place), but my theory that being in the top 15 of the MAIN Metal genre was correct. More exposure. And that's what I've decided really matters. As it stands right now, people looking for my kind of metal are going to hit Metal genre first because that's where they're lead to and The Switch is the FIRST Death Metal station you come to. If they're smart, they find the EMetal category. But even there, the top spot in the EMetal cat is a copycat station from way back. That motherfucker has been rehashing my 2006 playlist with a few Ozzfest additions occasionally. Hopefully anyone that has any clue about the EMetal scene will quickly figure that out. He has an edge because he does broadcast a live show in Cali, so he has those listeners. I don't think he's really in the way of stopping me from gaining listeners. From what I gather, he's not that bright (i.e. fucks up his station settings all the time). However, every time he's gone down or disappeared into some unknown genre, he doesn't lose that many and I don't GAIN that many. So, that means either 1) his listeners have him bookmarked or 2) he's cheating, either of which I can't control. What I can control is where I'm getting the most exposure. And, for now, that's in the Metal genre.
As much as it pains me to be in the top 10 with all the has-beens, cheaters, nu-bags and WASP fans...I am doing MY genre of Metal a service. Getting the word out. THE WORD! Fuck it. I will continue to monitor!

So, it does seem like I bitch a lot about why I'm not the #1 station. I kind of annoy myself with it as well, which is why I didn't blog forever, because I end up expressing the same old shit. However, I guess it just means that I am, in fact, passionate about what I'm doing. A very positive note that I always forget about, and that most people haven't really been able to accomplish with my genre...I've launced and relaunched about 4 times since 2003. EVERY time I jump to between 2500 and 4000 TLH almost instantaneously. There are actually quite a few stations that are a lot like mine, but for some reason I get the attention, which is a good sign. I feel like something big is going to happen soon. Either the Switch is going to get noticed in a big way...or...um...I'm going to get bored and shut it down again. haha. Nah, promised Satan I'd stay up this time, and I will. I think in time The Switch WILL have a very positive impact on the Extreme Metal scene. I want to do an interview and say, without any doubt: I'm the best fucking Metal "radio station" on the planet. All others can suck my dick and WISH they were me. Because...well, that's fun to think about. I have my finger on the God Damn button...I guess I just haven't pushed hard enough yet. We'll see.

So, I'm getting the urge to be rejected again. HA! A few years back I went on a pretty big emailing campaign to all the "major" record labels that carried the kind of music The Switch plays. I was hoping to get on those fancy "freebie" lists that radio stations are on. You know, for pre-releases and shit like that. At the time I was having to buy full CDs in order to get new music and I was going BROKE doing it. Not so bad now that Amazon.com/MP3 rules the world (FUCK DRM!)...anywho. I wrote to about 20 different labels. All of whose artists get about...oh...ZERO airplay on terrestrial radio (accept maybe Roadrunner, and that's only because they signed Nickelcunt). I was uber professional as to not come across as some neanderthal metal-head looking for a handout. I appealed to their business minds. And, suprisingly, within about two weeks I got a HUGE package from The End Records (at the time they were a lot smaller) with about 30 CDs, all death/black and grindcore. I was stoked, and I put about 95% of ALL of the bands on my playlists. Here we go! Big time! Yeah...

Nothing else came. So, I resent all the emails (accept for the one to The End Records, cause they obviously ruled). Then I started getting the asshole autoreplies. "Mr. Killswitch. Thanks for writing. No." Or..."Mr. Switch, we appreciate your efforts. Keep the faith.". Yeah. My FAVORITE was from a (will remain nameless asshat) from Century Media. He must've been having a really bad day because his response went something like this: "Look...you're trying my patience. If we handed out free CDs to every "would-be" internet radio station we'd go broke. You'll be shut down in a month like every other "Brutal Station". Stop writing us or you'll see how the big boys play...you know, with LAWYERS." Or something like that. He obviously had his email mixed up. Funny enough, the same department wrote to me about 3 months later in a nicer tone apologizing for not responding and that they'd consider my request. I refrained from getting into it.

So, after I was shown that despite the ZERO airplay any of these labels get they still just didn't think my MOST BRUTAL station was worth their time, I decided to stop writing until I was bigger. And badder. And FILLED WITH POWER!

And, that never happened. In fact, I actually DID shut down like all those other fly by nighters did that Mr. Century Media Asshat was referring too. But, only for awhile. Had some pressing business raising THE most beautiful baby Daughter ever to be brought forth from the bowels of Satan! Word.

But, like I said, I'm getting that urge to reach out. I've written to a couple of labels that are VERY independant, but that have some SERIOUS product being dished out. Hopefully they won't be so quick to judge me as unworthy before they tell me to fuck off. HA!

Where, oh where do we belong...

So, I've been struggling with where to put The Switch, meaning, which "genre" should we fall under? I've had a serious problem with L365s "Metal" genre for years now. Mainly because it's filled with Internet Streams that are basically copycat Terrestrial Radio stations (which fucking defeats the whole fucking purpose of the this thing), glam-rock stations that still SWEAR that Motley Crue and W.A.S.P are TRUE METAL, or it's network admin geeks with their Pagan/Magick metal stations basically hammering away at Live365 with their workplace servers and their WoW Guilds to boost their ratings. Then there's the Extreme Metal genre. Seems the right place to go...problem is, it's a second tier genre, which means it gets less exposure. L365 is really pushing the Mobile thang, and I've seen the Mobile thang...you need to be in the top 10, maybe top 15, of the PRIMARY genres, or you'll NEVER get seen. Period. So...do I go "Metal"...putting me at number #11? Decent, exposure is good. I would be the ONLY Death Metal station in the top 25, or something. Or, do I stay true to the "Extreme Metal" genre. I'm #3 there, underneath one of the BEST stations in the place (Thrash Unlimited Radio...he's #2, we trade spots from time to time). Unfortunately, I get a little irritated by #1. That cat has been jacking my playlists since 2005. When I went on hiatus for a year, guess who got all my listeners? I guess they don't look at the list very often, or else they'd...know...I was back. Right? I get some shit from a lot of other broadcasters telling me "it's not a game; we're all in this together; ratings are nothing". I say 'BULLSHIT' and 'FUCK YOU'. I'm in this to get the hundreds and hundreds of new metal motherFUCKERS out there. I can't do it buried under one thousand Nu-Metal and Hair Band stations. And I sure can't do it with the #1 station using MY playlist from 2006. Jesus...kick to the balls, ladies.

So, I'm going to track how many people actually hit my station page through statcounter.com. I've been watching it for a couple weeks under the Extreme Metal genre. Decent hits. Decent return visitors. I've switched it to "Metal"...and we'll see what happens. If I tank in TLH (Total Listening Hours) I'll switch back and just do my best to get to the top of the Extreme Metal genre. Right now, all I really care about is getting HEARD. For the past 5 years, 85% or more of my playlist has been exclusive to THE SWITCH. Which both makes me proud AND pisses me off at the same time. I'm glad I'm spreading the word. I just wish more of these other assholes would stop jacking Free MP3s off label sites and listening to the FUCKING radio for their "metal" updates. I'll keep you posted. heh heh...

DON'T BE FOOLED!

If you do a trial run with Live365 Radio Desktop and don't choose to go VIP after the trial expires, you can STILL listen to The Switch! Even though the player gives you a message that you can't listen anymore to the station unless you are VIP, and that it is only available to VIP's or it is full that is ONLY to continue using Radio Desktop, that is NOT the case if you shift back to the regular web based player or using Winamp or another media player!!! It is confusing and makes it seem like you can't listen FREE anymore as they want you to chose a PRO station over a hobbiest station. Fuckers. Don't be fooled! Tried uploading a couple of tracks off of the new Divine Heresy CD...fucking brutal...but, something is fucked up with the tracks I got from Amazon.com/MP3. They play fine on my machine, but when I upload them to Live365 they come out all fuckered up. None of my other MP3s, before or after, are fucked, so either Amazon has some bad shit or...and this will piss me off...it's some new form of DRM or something encoded by the studio. Imma check it out. If anyone has some "spare" MP3s of the new DH, email them to me so I can get it up! Fuckers...
